Everyone knows that getting a filling is one of the ways to prevent tooth decay from spreading. However, fillings do so much more. Here at Solace Dentistry, we take your dental health very seriously. We want you to know all the benefits of fillings. Here is more information on some of the other things a filling will do for you.
Fillings are a Great Way to Prevent Tooth Decay from Spreading
Of course, getting a filling is the first step if your tooth has some level of decay. By removing the decayed material, and sealing any gaps where bacteria can enter the tooth, a filling is the most important step in making sure you prevent tooth decay from spreading.
. . . But They Do So Much More, Too
If your tooth has been damaged—whether through trauma or decay—you may be in a situation where the structural strength of the tooth has been compromised. This means the tooth will be more susceptible to damage in the future, when you are eating crunchy food, or engaging in some other activity that puts stress on the tooth.
A filling can help strengthen the tooth, particularly when it is applied in place of weakened material. By getting a filling, you can help ward off future problems.
What’s more, a filling can help restore the tooth to its proper function. Sometimes, people who have damaged a tooth begin to compensate by chewing on the other side of the mouth. This can eventually lead to problems with the jaw (and the teeth that are being used to compensate). Getting a filling means that the damaged tooth is able to return to full function, and you can stop avoiding using that part of your mouth.

When you come in to our office, we want to do everything we can to help you remain calm. It is important to us that we do everything we can to help with this process. However, before you come in, there are things you can do, too. We will make sure to do everything possible in office to ensure you are relaxed and enjoy your time with us. Here are a few ideas of things you can do to help yourself prior to your next appointment with us.
How to Best Remain Calm When Visiting Our Office
When you want to remain calm during your dental visits, first, schedule your appointments on days where you don’t have to typically rush. For example, if you know you will have to rush for specific errands on Tuesdays, avoid that day. Go with whatever days are usually easier for you.
Prior to coming to our office, make sure to avoid caffeine whenever possible. Having caffeine before you come in can make you jittery. Plus, it can also raise your blood pressure, which won’t help you remain calm. Try having water or a small bit of decaf tea before coming in to help.
Finally, if you know that you tend to get anxious, tell us. Here at Solace Dentistry, we will be sure to do whatever we can to help you through any nerves you may have. However, we don’t know when each person that walks in gets those nerves. We have a lot of resources available to you. We just need to know that you want us to use them to help you feel better.
We Are a Peaceful Dentist Office for a Reason
Here at Solace Dentistry, we know that some people struggle with going to the dentist. We are here to help with whatever anxieties may come up. Just let us know when you want our help, and we will do our best to accommodate. Knowing that you need or want our help allows us to be able to help you remain calm both in our offices, and even before you walk in the doors. Find out more by calling our offices today!

A dental emergency is a situation where immediate action is required in order to prevent the loss of a tooth, stop bleeding, or alleviate severe pain. In short, a dental emergency is not much fun. The good news is that, with proper preventative care, you can greatly reduce your chances of ever experiencing a dental emergency.
Maintaining Strong and Healthy Teeth
One of the most common dental emergencies is a fractured tooth. While a fractured tooth can sometimes arise as a result of trauma—such as when playing a contact sport or being involved in an automobile accident—it most often is the result of biting down on hard food with a tooth that is weaker than it should be.
You can help keep your teeth strong enough to avoid most of these kinds of situations. Simple preventative care such as brushing, flossing, and rinsing with a good mouthwash, plus regular dental cleanings and checkup visits, can go a long ways towards keeping your teeth strong and healthy.
Preventative Care is Simple
The great thing about preventative care is that it is so easy to do. It doesn’t involve huge amounts of time, either: most dentists suggest that proper oral hygiene practices will consume a total of around 10 minutes per day. Given the significant benefits from this, there really is no reason to not engage in regular preventative care. What’s more, it will help you avoid the costly—and painful—proposition of having a dental emergency.
With all the benefits of preventative care, there’s really no reason not to do it. Here at Solace Dentistry we can be a part of your regular preventative care regimen. Contact us today to set up a time to come in for a cleaning and checkup. We can’t wait to help you keep your smile healthy and strong!

Tooth whitening is a relatively recent development in dental services. A few decades ago, if you wanted whiter teeth, you were pretty much stuck with the option of getting veneers. While dental veneers look and perform great, they can also be costly. Fortunately, tooth whitening is now available to everyone at a very affordable price.
Here at Solace Denistry, we work with people like you every day: people whose teeth are healthy but not quite the shade that they want. We can help you get the smile you want with tooth whitening.
Benefits of Tooth Whitening
It has been said that confidence makes up for a multitude of shortcomings. This is true, and the opposite is true as well: if you struggle with confidence issues, you will find it causes a number of problems in other areas of your life.
If you are self-conscious because of the shade of your teeth, tooth whitening is a great way to get that confidence back. It is very affordable, and you can see results in as little as a single treatment. Just come in to our office, relax while we perform the tooth whitening procedure, and then go on about your day.
Tooth Whitening is Easy
It has never been easier to get the smile you want. When you tell us you want to have your teeth whitened, we will fashion a tray that fits your mouth. Then we will apply a specialized whitening compound to the tray, set it in your mouth, and wait.
After a short time, we will remove the tray, let you rinse out your mouth, and let you go on with your day. Depending on the kind of whitening you are having done, we may or may not use a specialized laser to activate special elements in the whitening compound.
At Solace Denistry, we are here for you. Give us a call today!
