Everyone knows that getting a filling is one of the ways to prevent tooth decay from spreading. However, fillings do so much more. Here at Solace Dentistry, we take your dental health very seriously. We want you to know all the benefits of fillings. Here is more information on some of the other things a filling will do for you.
Fillings are a Great Way to Prevent Tooth Decay from Spreading
Of course, getting a filling is the first step if your tooth has some level of decay. By removing the decayed material, and sealing any gaps where bacteria can enter the tooth, a filling is the most important step in making sure you prevent tooth decay from spreading.
. . . But They Do So Much More, Too
If your tooth has been damaged—whether through trauma or decay—you may be in a situation where the structural strength of the tooth has been compromised. This means the tooth will be more susceptible to damage in the future, when you are eating crunchy food, or engaging in some other activity that puts stress on the tooth.
A filling can help strengthen the tooth, particularly when it is applied in place of weakened material. By getting a filling, you can help ward off future problems.
What’s more, a filling can help restore the tooth to its proper function. Sometimes, people who have damaged a tooth begin to compensate by chewing on the other side of the mouth. This can eventually lead to problems with the jaw (and the teeth that are being used to compensate). Getting a filling means that the damaged tooth is able to return to full function, and you can stop avoiding using that part of your mouth.
If you think you may need a filling, come see us at Solace Dentistry today!

When you come in to our office, we want to do everything we can to help you remain calm. It is important to us that we do everything we can to help with this process. However, before you come in, there are things you can do, too. We will make sure to do everything possible in office to ensure you are relaxed and enjoy your time with us. Here are a few ideas of things you can do to help yourself prior to your next appointment with us.
How to Best Remain Calm When Visiting Our Office
When you want to remain calm during your dental visits, first, schedule your appointments on days where you don’t have to typically rush. For example, if you know you will have to rush for specific errands on Tuesdays, avoid that day. Go with whatever days are usually easier for you.
Prior to coming to our office, make sure to avoid caffeine whenever possible. Having caffeine before you come in can make you jittery. Plus, it can also raise your blood pressure, which won’t help you remain calm. Try having water or a small bit of decaf tea before coming in to help.
Finally, if you know that you tend to get anxious, tell us. Here at Solace Dentistry, we will be sure to do whatever we can to help you through any nerves you may have. However, we don’t know when each person that walks in gets those nerves. We have a lot of resources available to you. We just need to know that you want us to use them to help you feel better.
We Are a Peaceful Dentist Office for a Reason
Here at Solace Dentistry, we know that some people struggle with going to the dentist. We are here to help with whatever anxieties may come up. Just let us know when you want our help, and we will do our best to accommodate. Knowing that you need or want our help allows us to be able to help you remain calm both in our offices, and even before you walk in the doors. Find out more by calling our offices today!
